Channex is a developer-first white-label channel manager API designed for PMS and in-house hotel-software teams. Its public integration flow includes REST APIs, webhooks, staging, API keys and certification.

## Ecosystem role

Unlike hotel-facing channel managers that primarily expose an operator dashboard, Channex explicitly positions the channel-management layer as infrastructure embedded into another software product.

## Access model

The public integration path includes:
- staging account,
- API key,
- property/room/rate creation,
- inventory synchronization,
- OTA authorization,
- Channex certification,
- go-live.

API keys can be scoped to selected properties and are sent through the `user-api-key` header.

## Capability boundary

Channex states that it does not currently create OTA listings or manage listing content such as images/facilities. That content remains in OTA extranets while Channex focuses on connectivity state.

## Engineering implications

Use durable mapping for property/room/rate identities, webhook idempotency for reservation events and bounded retry for ARI updates.

## Observability

Track OTA delivery lag, API rejection, webhook age, reservation-modification processing, mapping coverage and reconciliation drift.

## Why it matters

Channex is a strong reference architecture for teams that want channel-management capability without building each OTA integration themselves.
