Wrong Property Mapping RCA

Wrong property mapping attaches a supplier record to the wrong canonical hotel and can corrupt price, image and availability presentation. Because the result may still look plausible, these incidents can survive unnoticed until a traveler lands on a visibly different property.

Observable symptom

Landing opens another hotel, conflicting addresses/images appear or an offer is listed under the wrong property.

Evidence

Collect mapping decision ID, source property, candidate set, feature scores, geo distance, addresses, provider IDs and rule version.

Triage

Validate parsing, candidate generation, dominant features, missed contradictions, manual overrides and rebrand history.

Failure modes

Name similarity can overpower contradictory geo data, stale manual overrides can survive a rebrand, and provider IDs can be reused or migrated. Treat strong contradictions as hard guards rather than weak score penalties.

Fix

Detach the bad mapping, invalidate downstream cache/indexes and correct the rule. A one-off manual change does not remove the recurring cause.

Metrics and prevention

Track wrong mappings, contradiction bypass, overrides and errors by rule version. Keep mapping decisions explainable.
