Order Confirmed but Ticket Not Issued Troubleshooting
Diagnose flight cases where an order is confirmed but ticket/document issuance is incomplete by separating order, payment and fulfillment state.
A confirmed flight Order does not guarantee that ticket/document issuance completed. Diagnose order, payment and ticketing state independently.
Symptom
An order ID or PNR exists, booking appears confirmed, but no ticket/document number is available and traveler fulfillment is incomplete.
Possible causes
Pending/failed capture, ticketing queue delay, asynchronous airline fulfillment, document issuance errors, post-order fare/tax rejection or missing provider events.
Diagnosis
Retrieve order and document state separately, verify payment, inspect ticketing attempts/errors, query provider/airline document lists, check async event delivery and compare against provider issuance SLA.
Recovery
Do not create another order. Retry ticketing only when provider semantics are safe; otherwise retrieve/reconcile the existing order and follow servicing/cancellation policy if fulfillment cannot recover.
Prevention
Use explicit ticket/document state, order-to-ticket reconciliation, ticketing idempotency, issuance timeouts, operations queues and traveler notifications.
Observability
Track order-to-ticket latency, confirmed-without-ticket count, ticketing failures, ticketing UNKNOWN age and manual fulfillment.
